inner-strength
Noun
(plural inner strengths)
(idiomatic) Integrity of character; resoluteness of will; mental resistance to doubt or discouragement.

Life can be hard sometimes. It can become easy to get down on ourselves and only focus on what others think of us. When this happens, we allow others to determine our own self-worth, instead of ourselves. This can leave us feeling vulnerable, insufficient and powerless. So, how do we change this?

Not to worry, all of us possess the ability to be strong! Discovering our inner strength and confidence is something we are all capable of! The first step to finding  inner strength is to understand that we have a purpose and that we are valued. Here are a few steps to help us discover our inner strength and lead us on the road to self-love and healing.
1). Accept yourself
Yes, that’s right. We must first learn how to love and accept ourselves. We are all flawed and no one is perfect…but when we start to see our own self worth and value, inner strength will follow. Learn from the past and look towards the future. Be confident in who you are and strive for the person you want to become.

2.) Surround yourself with the right people
It is so important to surround ourselves with people who lift us up and encourage us in our journey! We must learn to surround ourselves with those who love, respect and care about us. During hard times, when we feel low, or inadequate, being around those who want to build us up is so critical. It can be hard, but let go of people in your life who are negative or bring you down. Make the choice to only surround yourself with people who love and support you! You’ll be amazed at how much better you will feel.

3). Confidence is key
Building up our self confidence is a key part in discovering our inner strength. One way to approach this is through meditation. When we start to change our thought process and concentrate on all of the good we’ve done, it becomes much easier to identify our value and sense of worth. Use this time of quiet to think about all of your achievements and accomplishments. You are amazing and you can do anything you set your mind to! Another way to achieve this is through positive affirmation. Tell yourself positive things. For example, remind yourself that you are smart, capable and that you believe in yourself!

4). Help others
When we step out of our own life and issues to help others, it’s amazing how much this can change our perspective! Try helping out at a soup kitchen, animal shelter, or visit an old age home. When we are helping to empower others, we will start to feel empowered ourselves! Kindness is contagious, so pass it on.

5). Focus on the long term
Sometimes it’s easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. We can become so caught up on the here and now. A job loss, or break up can feel like the end of the world. We assure you, it’s not!  You may be in a temporary funk, but fear not because the best is yet to come! Make a list of your year long, monthly and weekly goals. Set yourself up for success and work every day towards what you love. Because where you invest your time, you invest your heart.

Start to follow some of these small steps and you will begin to connect with your inner strength. And remember, you are strong, confident and beautiful. You are capable of anything and we believe in you! Xo
